Planning a trip to the Ukraine can be fun when you know all the Nikolaev must do’s to take in while visiting the country. The city of Nikolaev is located in southern Ukraine and is full of industry. When deciding what to do and see while in the city, here is a list of the top 5 things to do.

Shukhov Tower

The Shukhov Tower is located atop the Spasskiy Hill and is a cultural and historical attraction to the city of Nikolaev. The tower is constructed from beams that are straight but the tower has a curved shape that was designed by a famous engineer V.G. Shukhov.

Nikolaev Theatre and Drama

There are 4theaters that are great attractions for travelers, including the Russian Drama, Regional Philharmonic, State Regional Puppet and the Academic Ukrainian Drama. Many tourists and local people visit these theaters and drama productions to see the unique and interesting shows.

Museum of Ship Building

This is one of the famous museums in Nikolaev that features some of the history and craftsmanship of the ships that are built in the city. Many old ships are on display along with models and interesting facts about the boats that have been built and manufactured in the city. Nikolaev has long been known for its shipbuilding industry and the museum is a great place to be able to see some of the ships  and the history of the industry.

Museum of the Arts

For art lovers, the Museum of the Arts in Nikolaev is a must see. It is unique and located in the actual home where one of the famous artists, Vereshchagin, lived. The museum displays approximately 10,000 pieces of art. There are paintings to suit any taste that also provide a great way to see some of the culture of the early artists in Russia.

Nikolaev City Zoo

The Nikolaev City Zoo is known as one of the most beautiful zoos in the Ukraine and, in fact,  in most of Europe. Some of the biggest attractions to the zoo are the Russian bears that live there. These large bears weigh in at almost 1 ton and stand around 8 feet tall. They are gentle and kind animals that are friendly to the zoo visitors. This zoo is also famous for the care that each of the animals receives as the zoo keepers provide some of the best animal care and treatment in the world.
