Nikolaev, also known as Mykolayiv, besides being the main industrial hub of Ukraine, offers excellent tourist destinations and Nikolaev Sights including museums, monuments, zoos and parks.

Nikolaev Zoo

Nikolaev Zoo is an exciting tourist point in Ukraine with a large collection of varieties of animals living in perfect homely and comfortable condition. There are over 3000 kinds of animals including bisons, deer, camels, yaks, ostriches, alligators, wolves, tigers, lions, squirrels, monkeys, anacondas and so on.  Founded by N.P. Leontovich in 1901, this zoo also houses a museum where you can learn about the history of the zoo and its gradual expansion over time. Besides, this zoo is the first zoo of Ukraine to have become a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA). There are plenty of cafĂ© corners inside the zoo to offer you refreshing drinks and snacks to quench your thirst.

Theme Park: Skazka

Situated in the heart of Nikolaev, Skazka is a stunning tourist point frequented by a large number of visitors, children and adults. Founded in the year 1982, this park has a colossal amphitheatre to hold cultural events and music concerts, two light houses, a wooden citadel, an antediluvian stone-built mansion, fountains, steam engine and ample fun rides to give you a fascinating experience. Besides, there is a game room with the arrangements to play board games of hockey, volleyball or football, chess and billiards.

The Quay of the Ingul River

The quay of the Ingul river is one of the most popular places in Nikolaev. The quay offers a charming view of the Ingul river and the places surrounding it. For example, as you approach the quay of the Ingul River walking along the Sovetskaya Street, many fabulous monuments and sculptures like St. Nikolas Chapel, the monuments of admiral Makarov or Faleev, Nikolaev City Council and Nikolaev quenchless flame will captivate your mind. Besides, the quay is an ideal place to spend your time with family and children relaxing and sightseeing. If you visit the place in winter when the river gets frozen, you may try ice-skating there. During summer or spring time, the quay looks heavenly with the colorful flowers and green trees blooming all around.

Churches

Besides being an industrial hub, Nikolaev is also known for its imposing churches. Though most of the churches were destroyed during World War II, some of the churches still intact are striking enough to pull the crowd of tourists. The famous lot of churches include Cathedral of the Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Nicolas Chapel, St. Nikolas Church and Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
