The city of Nikolaev in the Ukraine is a lush, tranquil place with fascinating architecture and friendly people. The major attractions in Nikolaev are museums, historical monuments, and cathedrals, which usually are not of any particular interest to kids, which makes Nikoleav family travel a good idea for families who are okay with the activities that Nikoleav does have. Nikolaev Zoo

The zoo in Nikolaev is located in Leontovich Square and is considered the best zoo in the entire country. There are almost 4,000 types of animals in the zoo including hippos, goats, bison, tigers, lions, wolves, camels, monkeys, ostriches, and peacocks to name a few. It has been around since 1901, when it was created by N. Levontovich. The best time to visit is during spring and summer, while the worst time is during the winter because it is very cold and not all of the animals can be viewed. There are many cafes in the zoo and benches to relax on. There is also a museum showing the history of the Nikolaev Zoo. Adult admission costs around $4 USD and child admission costs $2 USD. This is probably the best family attraction in the city.

Museum of Shipbuilding and Fleet

Built in 1978, this museum has a fantastic collection of everything having to do with ships. Old anchors, globes, flags, model ships, and maps are all on display. There are 12 halls, beginning in ancient times, which go through all the stages of shipbuilding in the Northern Black Sea area. The museum itself is located in an ancient building with incredible architecture, which is both historically and archaeologically significant.

Nikolaev Children's Town Fairy Tale

This attraction is made purely for children, and it is one of the most popular and beloved places in Nikolaev. It is basically a huge playground for kids featuring a magical looking castle, a huge ship, a village made up of wooden houses, a locomotive, and the laughter room filled with tons of distorting mirrors. There are also swings, trampolines, mini cars for kids to drive, and a merry go round all for kids to enjoy. This is the perfect place to go to as family in Nikolaev.
