Bars and Cafes in Zurich
Edit ThisBeing home to an international crowd and tons of businesspeople, Zurich has its fair share of bars and cafes for people to let loose and relax in. From classy, quiet, older bars and cafes, to lively exclusive bars and clubs, to everyday, cozy, comfortable pubs where you can sit back and unwind, the bar scene in Zurich is diverse.
Posh Bars
Kaufleuten Lounge is a popular and very exclusive bar where you're
likely to spot some famous faces. It is very chill and is filled with
soft cushioned chairs. The lounge is actually four bars in one and has a
gorgeous garden on the top floor. Visits by both Prince and Madonna
have helped make this place famous in Zurich.
A slightly less expensive
option is Pur Pur, also a very popular place where people like to be
seen. It serves up Asian and Mediterranean cuisine and often has live
shows. The major downside is that it can get quite crowded, especially
on the weekends.
Cafe Odeon has been a classy landmark since 1911. It is bohemian and
artsy, a hub for intellectuals and artists. More than partying, this is
a bar for staying up late, relaxing and drinking with friends. The
cocktails are creative and the bar is open until 4:30 A.M.
For the
older crowd, Widder Bar at the Widder Hotel is cozy and inviting. The
service is impeccable and the style of the place is elegant and
comfortable with its combination of wood, glass, and red leather. The
whisky selection at Widder is huge and there is live jazz music every
Wednesday. Cigars are also available to accompany your drink.
Those
under 23 are likely to enjoy Indochine, a bar and club spread over 2
floors. It's not exactly a place for the "hip" or exclusive crowd, but
it still has a nice style and good music. It can, however, be a quite
expensive, so you have to keep an eye on your drink bill.
Casual Bars
Paddy Reilly's is the best Irish pub in Zurich. It is spacious, with televisions everywhere, and best of all, it has great beer. What more could you ask for in Irish Pub? Also, the people are friendly and the service is quick. Acapulco is another popular, local bar. It is plain and simple with cheap drinks and karaoke Sundays.
