Museums in Interlaken
Edit ThisWithin the Canton of Bern, nestled between the shores of Lake Brienz and Lake Thurn, rests Interlaken. This pristine municipality is often the destination of travelers craving thrills, but there are gentler temptations to discover with Interlaken Museums. Explore all of the charm.
Open-Air Museum
Travel into a breathing sentiment with the Open Air Museum. This remarkable exhibit allows visitors to stroll through a historical village; observing, and even joining, the traditions of the past. Craftsmen and farmers share the stage, providing information and performances. It is drama and truth. And, with over 160 acres to enjoy, it is certain to be a perfect afternoon. It opens from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. daily.
Tin Figure Exhibition
An uncommon treat (even among Interlaken Museums), the Tin Figure Exhibition seeks to delight with its collection of decorative miniatures; with each offering a special scene from history. Centered in Interlaken Castle--which is also to be enjoyed--this exhibit is a quaint retreat. It is available only from the months of April to October, however. Scheduling is required.
Tourist Museum
This impressive center was once an even more impressive home; now it has been reborn as the ultimate explanation of Interlaken and its tourist appeal. Discover the town’s metamorphosis from textile producer to ideal escape. This fascinating glimpse into the century will impress. It is not a constant location, however. It is open only from May 1 to October 11. Proper planning is essential.
Interlaken Museums represent but a fraction of the joys waiting here. They are, though, an easy answer to the troubling question of how to spend your hours.
