A holiday in Switzerland is not complete without a visit to the many Interlaken Bars and Cafes. Interlaken is a hugely popular tourist destination, packed with terrace cafes and bars serving wholesome fare and well-mixed drinks. Positive Einfach

The name of this café/bar literally translates to "Positive Simple," and its subtle and tasteful décor reflects just that. Pink walls and rustic wooden stools blend in well with the café’s eclectic and lively crowd. A must-try here is the gnocchi as well as the wide variety of beer. Positive Einfach, located on Centralstrasse 11, usually has a DJ or live band playing, and is open till 1:30 a.m.

Baba Jaga

The Baba Jaga Café Bar and Lounge sits quietly on Harderstrasse 17, which is a stone’s throw away from Interlaken’s central area. Named after Russia’s folk story witch, Baba Jaga offers a homelike atmosphere with just four tables and a single bar. The music here is excellent, and this place is perfect for an early drink.

Café Runft

This cozy little tea room is located on Bahnhofstrasse 51, opposite Interlaken’s West station. Aside from its excellent selection of teas and coffees, Café Runft also functions as an eatery and bar. Café Runft’s bar is open daily till 3:00 a.m.

Brasserie 17

Brasserie 17, a typically loud bar known well among beer drinkers, sits happily on Rosenstrasse 17. The atmosphere in this no-nonsense bar is great, and the finger food is even better when drinking beer. A must-try is the fondue and chicken wings. The menu also has other cuisines like Chinese and Thai. Brasserie 17 is open Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., and on Sundays from 5:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Hooters Interlaken

Hooters, a familiar global chain of bars, has a branch in Interlaken. This establishment gets crowded very fast. Here, you can expect to see attractive waitresses serving beer and great food to go with it. One cannot miss the chicken sandwiches or the famous Hooters’ chicken wings. Hooters Interlaken is located on Hoheweg 57. A meal for two at this casual spot would amount to anything between $15 and $20.
