The town of Einsiedeln is situated in the heart of Switzerland, just one hour by train from
Zurich in the direction of the mountains.
The most important sight is the benedictine monastery which was founded in the 10th century; the present baroque monastery was built in the first half of the 18th century and is one of the most splendid buildings in Switzerland.
Einsiedeln is also the oldest and most important place of pilgrimage in Switzerland. The main focus of religious attraction is the Lady Chapel with the Black Madonna .
