Cruises in Switzerland
Edit ThisTake a Cruise from Basel to Strasbourg
One of the best Switzerland cruises is the cruise from the Swiss city of Basel to the French city of Strasbourg. This exciting trip is possible due to the connection of both cities through the river of Rhein. Here are some details on the starting and ending points of your trip.
Basel
Basel is located in north Switzerland, right where the country border meets the borders of France and Germany. The city has a rich history and is an important cultural center. There are over 20 museums in Basel, and you surely won’t have enough time to see them all before you leave on your trip, but you should at least try to visit the History Museum, the Kunstmuseum, or the Music Museum. When in Basel, you have the chance to see many remarkable examples of Gothic architecture. The most impressive ones are Basel Munster Protestant Church and the Basel Town Hall.
Strasbourg
Strasbourg is located about 130km north of Basel. The city is an important political center and home of many European institutions. Once arriving at the Strasbourg harbor, make sure to check its many sights. The most interesting sight is the Strasbourg Gothic Cathedral. It is an impressive building made out of sandstone, popular for its astronomical clock. Other places of interest are the city museums. Strasbourg has over 15 different museums, but the most impressive are the art museums, specializing in French, German and Dutch modern and historical art.
