The highest concentration of sights is around the old marketplace (also the place to go when you want to go shopping) and around the oldest university in the whole of Switzerland. Being the cultural city as it is, it will take you several days to visit all of Basel.

Münster - cathedral

The most prominent building of the Old Town. After the reformation, it was turned into a protestant cathedral. Erasmus is buried here.
