Sveg is the central municipality in the province Härjedalen (Jämtland county) with about 2500 inhabitants. It is situated at the river Ljusnan and at the inland railway through north Sweden (Inlandsbanan). It has a peat industry and a sawmill. It is the gateway to the tourist areas of the mountainous western parts of the province.
