There are only a few youth hotels in Madrid. If you want to have a reasonably cheap place to spend the night, check out the hotels run by host families and often located quite centrally. There are loads of hostals around Puerta del Sol, mostly on the third floor withour big signs at the entrance. In all cases, it is better to visit the hotel in advance. Prices are round and about €20.- for a single room and €32.- for a double, a clean double with shared bath can be found for 25€.
