Sights in Salou

Salou Sights guide will help you make the best of your vacation time when visiting Salou.
Beaches
Salou is located on the Mediterranean Sea and offers 9 pristine beaches. Ponent Beach is bordered by Miramar's promenade and is very popular with residents and families. Llevant Beach is the largest beach in Salou and offers several services and facilities along the promenade. Ponent and Llevant Beaches also offer sports zones, where you can find Petanque courts, skittles, paddle tennis and volley ball pitches. They also offer a babysitting service.
Font lluminosa
Font lluminosa was recently renovated earlier this year was built in 1972, the water feature provides a wonderful spectacle of water and light.
Harbor Master Building
The Harbor Master Building was built in 1820 and was refurbished to display the history of this busy harbor. The wharf also dates from the the beginning of the 19th century and for several years was used by fishermen to shelter their boats. Its impractical design made it impossible to use as it filled up with sand soon after its construction.
Torre Vella
The old tower was built around 1530 to guard this section of the coast against pirate raids. With the coat of arms of Pere de Cardona above the entrance, the exterior still displays its original appearance. The inside was modified throughout the years and is now home to the Contemporary Enamel Art Museum.
Santa Maria del Mar Church
It was built in 1766 for use by seafarers, at a time of great activity in the port of Salou. Initially it was just a small chapel with a single nave and a belfry. It was enlarged in different phases during the 20th century, until it took on the appearance it has today. Of interest are the mural paintings painted between 1954 and 1966 by Lluís Maria Güell and the mural paintings that decorate the baptistry, painted by the contemporary artist, Josep Grau Garriga, in 1964, during the time of the rector Monsignor Ramon Muntanyola.
Old Carrilet Railway Station
The old Carrilet railway station was run by the Reus Tram Company, that imported its locomotives and carriages from England. The trains were in operation for 118 years.
Cybernetic Fountains
Visitors of Salou can enjoy the spectacular water show called the new fountains at the opposite end of the main promenade Jaime I to the Font lluminosa.
Parc de Salou
The Salou town park, located in Carles Buïgas Street, occupies part of the land of the former Camping Salou, one of the town’s first tourist establishments.
Penya Tallada
Located between Punta de Replanells and Punta del Cavall, Penya Tallada is a unique rock formation jutting out 100 meters into the sea and was eroded into a wall enclosing a small cove.
Punta del Cavall
For a perfect sunset view, you can go to Punta del Cavall, which is a promontory in the western part of Salou. To the west of it, you can find Cala de la Font. Throughout the centuries, it was commonly used by pirates as anchorage between raids. The calm, clear water is perfect for snorkeling.
Catalan Farmhouse
The Catalan farmhouse is a must see while in Salou. It was built from material reclaimed from old building, giving it its rustic atmosphere. You can see an exposition of tools used by Catalan farmers. Around Christmas, you can attend a performance of the nativity and and traditional Catalan "caga tio." In summer, you can purchase handicrafts at a artisan market.
