There are several things to do in Castell-Platja d'Aro. Things to do in Platja d'Aro include the suggestions listed below.
Guided tours
The tourism board offers guided tours of the town and its surroundings in summer and winter. These free tours bring you to the historical center of Castell d'Aro on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the roman settlement of Pla de Palol on Saturdays and the Camí de Ronda of s'Agaro (coastal path) on Thursdays and Fridays. All winter tours should be booked in advance.
Carnival
The tourism board also hosts a Carnival in February. It includes theater, street performances, music and dancing, children shows and activities for all age groups.
Wine and Cava festival
In May and June, you can take part in the wine and cava festival where you can sample local and international wines as well as patés, traditional smoked meats, local and Spanish sausages, ham and cheeses.
Doll museum
You can visit the Doll museum which is located in the old center of town. The museum displays dolls from several countries and you can see dolls made from ceramic, plastic, wood, papier-maché, straw, ivory, cloth, leather, animal horns and coconut shells.
Benedormiens Castle
For a medieval experience, you should head to the Benedormiens Castle. Built in 1041, the castle was actually burned down in 1462 and an explosion destroyed the foundations in 1879, but the ruins of the building's old foundations are still open for visits as well as some areas that were refurbished. Archeological excavations have revealed defensive structures outside the castle walls, such as the moat, a bridge and a ramp leading to the door. The castle main rooms now hosts art exhibits. Walking around town, you can also see several fortified farmhouses. These farmhouses were built between the 15th and 17th century and were fortified to resist raids from the pirates.
Shopping
If shopping is your thing, you can find stores for all your needs, from furniture to clothing, jewelry and souvenirs. There is a large selection of restaurants offering regional cuisine as well as specialties from around the world. Most are open from early morning until late in the evening.
Aquadiver water park
For the children and the young at heart, you can spend a day at the Aquadiver water park, which features multiple rides, pools and slides. You can also find locations for go-karting, mountain biking, rock climbing, zip lines and paintball, we well as 4X4 jeep rides.
Platja d'Aro Yacht Club
If you would like to explore the coast line by boat, the Platja d'Aro Yacht Club offers sailboats and powerboats for rent, and from the marina, you can take part in a catamaran cruise.
