Shopping
Edit ThisSo you found the perfect Barcelona hotel, you've engaged a good number of Barcelona activities, and you have at least a dozen Barcelona restaurants under your belt. What's next? Shopping of course! Continue reading to find out about popular Barcelona shops and many of the shops and boutiques the Barcelona travel guides may have missed.
When you want to go shopping in Barcelona you have to bear in mind that most shops are not open during lunchtime/siesta. In general, they're open during weekdays from 10:30 a.m.-2.30 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m-9:00 p.m. On Sundays, most shops don't open their doors.
There are various shopping areas. The most elegant shopping places can be traced at the Passeig de Gracia, the Rambla de Catalunya, Avingunda Diagonal and around Turó Park. Santa Eulalia, Jofré, Comella and Bua are well-known luxury boutiques. If you're looking for something equally elegant but you're on a budget your best bet would be Sugar & Spice on calle Amigo (corner Maria Cubí). On the same street you'll also find one of the nicest childrenwear stores: Nicolí. Amigo and Santaló nearby offer a number of pretty shops, restaurants and trendy bars. Cutting through, calle Madrazo has two of the best boutiques in the area, Anna Cortina and Coquette. If money is no object walk around Turó Park and discover the many boutiques by Jofre, Baby Dior for your demanding kids, Lucio's expensive but original furniture, etc. Another fantastic home design shop can be found at the corner of Paseo de Gracia with Diagonal, while, if you like modern design, Vinçon on the Paseo de Gracia is a must.
If you feel adventorous don't forget to explore the area between the Ramblas and Via Laietana, especially around Carrer de Ferran and Avinyo. Touristic but interesting. Looking for some real big shopping malls? Then look no further than the harbor, home to Maremagnum. This shopping center sells everything that is new, modern, and fashionable. A must-see is also the megastore of El Progreso that has one establishment at Plaça de Catalunya and another one at Diagonal. La Illa on the Diagonal is maybe the most popular shopping mall among residents.
If you are looking for the trendiest area in Barcelona, then head to the Borne to enjoy its bohemian chic atmosphere, and its many restaurants, bars, cafes and terrazzas. There are many fantastic finds along the narrow medieval streets. The best boutiques can be found on the Paseo del Borne and calle Rec. The most impressive are Lobby, Hugo Boss, Coquette (women) and Hamptons (men), but you should also try other well known shops such as Como Agua de Mayo, La Commercial, Custo, Marithe and François Girbaud, the outlet Betty B, and so on. If you are looking for home decoration check out Ivo & Co. The Borne is the perfect shopping experience: you'll be able to enjoy a drink while sitting at a table in one of the many squares and look at the fashionable young set walking by, nibble some tapas or have a good meal at one of the many trendy restaurants in the area. To finish off the day there are numerous bars and clubs in the Borne area to choose from.
Clothes and complements shopping is also a real pleasure in El Raval thanks to all the little one-off boutiques you can find in this unique area on the left side of Las Ramblas. In Elisabets/carrer dels Angels, very near the MACBA Museum, a very special group of shops with Camper, Vialis, Twiggy and Juan-Jo Gallery. Take a tour in this emerging fashion area with bohemian and stylish mood.
If you are more interested in markets, you shouldn't miss out on the Boqueria at the Ramblas which starts early in the morning. A very popular place for youngsters and yups is Santa Rosa de Copán. It has, besides many cafes and bars, over 100 stores that contribute to the lively character of the boulevard making it a popular place to visit. The last main shopping area in Barcelona is the Barri Gothic for trendy streetwear, secondhand clothes, interesting junk, and antiques.

La Gauche Divine
Edit Thisla gauche divine
In the 1960’s, a group of young artists in Barcelona used their work to challenge the establishment and to strive for a better future. The movement became known as La Gauche Divine and for two Barceloneses it has become an inspiration and the namesake for their new concept store.
They have created a multi-functional space that combines fashion, music, art and design. Find an offbeat piece of clothing, or relax in El Petit Café, while surrounded by art displays and contemporary beats. Clothes range from classic to cutting edge, with more..| type: | Speciality shops |

La Maquinista
Edit Thisphoto by: Amnon
"La Maquinista" is a large mall on the outskirts of Barcelona. It has a few larger stores rather than the boutique like stores found many other places. To get there take the Metro L1 Line (red) to the Sant Andreu exit. Walk towards the church across the street (to the right when you exit the station) and pass the Renfe train station. It´s about a 10-15 minute walk.

Maremagnum
Edit ThisThe Maremagnum Shopping center (which has not only fans amongst the inhabitants of Barcelona) is a big American style shopping mall. Some like it, some don't. I liked the Aquarium next to it, although this is expensive it is worth the trip.
You can find there not only the best shops in Barcelona, also good pubs and curious events... but, the best is the sight that you can have from there: the port, the people... authentic barcelonian people. Good point: Only mall open on Sundays.
