Beaches in Canary Islands
Edit ThisIn a spectacular little spot on the planet surrounded by the vast Atlantic Ocean lie the Canary Islands. The largest island of this unique archipelago is called Tenerife Island. With comforting, warm weather and relaxing warm waters, it is a perfect place for taking off your shoes and kicking back in a hammock on the beach.
There are 140 beaches, both natural and artificial, adorning all coasts of Tenerife. They attract more tourists every year than any other island in the archipelago. Perhaps this is because of its clean, well cared-for beaches with multiple services provided year-round. The most visited are located in Arona and Adeje to the south, and Puerto Cruz in the north; although it doesn’t really matter which direction you go in search of beaches, because there are fantastic options anywhere you decide go along the coast. From gray sands to volcanic black sands to golden sands, you’re sure to find one that suits you.
La Pinta Beach - Adeje
You can swim in total relaxation and tranquility, search for shells, build a sandcastle, or just walk along the 200 meter long stretch of fine, golden sands when visiting this Tenerife beach. This location is rather crowded throughout the year, so be wary. It has concessions, restaurants, showers, telephones, a Red Cross office, umbrellas for the sun, and hammocks. Don’t be surprised if you end up spending the whole day there!
Las Galletas Beach - Arona
Protect your ears, because this is a rather windy beach, but you won’t be bothered with it at all as you rest in the calm waters of the ocean. This is another busy beach that has gray gravelly sands along its 600 meter shoreline. It also has restaurants, parking available, a Red Cross office, local police, showers, telephones, beach cleaning services, garbage cans, and hammocks.
Jardin Beach - Puerto Cruz
700 meters long and 50 meters wide, this volcanic black sand beach is another popular choice among tourists. Its waters are calm, and it has a parking lot, garbage cans, showers, bars, restaurants, dressing rooms, telephones, sun umbrellas, and hammocks. This beach is also popular for sunbathing, snorkeling, and just leaving behind the stress of daily life.
Los Cristianos Beach - Arona
This beach is not too crowded as are other beaches. It offers theater, art, and dance events at various times during the year. It also has features such as showers, restaurants, hammocks, sun umbrellas, a bus stop, and access for the disabled.
