This is a village with magnificent views over the north-west coat of the island. It is easily reached by bus from Palma or from Sóller. Valdemossa was the place where Chopin and George Sand stayed for a winter in a converted monastery – without the anticipated benefits to Chopin’s health. However they must surely have enjoyed the views from their ‘cell’, even if Chopin did have problems getting his piano delivered.

Just around the corner from the old monastery is a sort of palace where Chopin recitals are played at a fixed time of each hour, even if you are the sole visitor.
