One of the four main islands of the Balearic chain, Mallorca is one of Europe's holiday hot spots. While this island offers many fun activities, it's highly recommended you explore the neighboring islands.

The Island of Cabrera

The Cabrera National Park is on a small island, south of Mallorca. The island of Cabrera is an archipelago consisting of nineteen small islands. Trips here are mainly day trips. An overnight trip would require a special permit because it Cabrera became a nature preserve in 1991. Cabrera has a military history dating back to around 1916. Day trips are allowed in certain areas, but some areas are protected to preserve their natural ecology. Because of the sensitivity of marine life, you have to be permitted to dive or boat around the island. On the island itself you can hike, shop, have a meal at the café, and visit a museum or even a 14th-century castle. Because of these restrictions, Cabrera receives few visitors.

Ibiza Island

Ibiza is the place to party. Known for its night clubs, Ibiza has surprises to offer for those who want to do more than dance to house music for days on end. You can go to Ibiza Town and check out the restaurants. The walled old quarter has cobbled streets that can take you to a 16th-century cathedral with beautiful views of the island. During the months of June to September, San Antonio comes alive with every conceivable type of bar, pub, club or disco. The island also has villages and farmland. It’s small and you can drive around it in a day. Even though it is small, there are still more than sixty beaches where you can play.

Formentera

Formentera is south of Ibiza. La Sabina is the island’s only port, so if you arrive by boat, you will arrive here. The first things you are going to see are white houses and some small salt silos. Getting to the island you would have to take the ferry from Ibiza. Then you can use the bus system to explore La Sabina, Sant Franesc Xavier, and La Mola.

Menorca

The second largest island is Menorca. This island is bustling with tourism. You can explore different industries like wine, cheese and gin (just to name a few). There are a lot of bars, restaurants and shops for you to enjoy. If architectural design is what you crave, then you will enjoy walking around and seeing the influences around you.

Valldemossa and Frederic Chopin

Visit Valldemossa, one of the most beautiful and typical villages on the island, which is nestled in a valley within the northern mountain range, a short distance from Palma. We will head towards La Cartuja, an ancient Monastery that was originally built as a royal hunting lodge and was later inhabited by monks. During the winter of 1838, the famous Polish composer Frederick Chopin and the French writer Georges Sand lived in this monastery. There is a collection of furniture, including a piano where Chopin composed more..
