THE SOČA RIVER The vigorous rapids and cascades of the childishly mischievous and primitive emerald river have carved beautiful channels and colourful pools throughout the centuries. The Soča Path through the Trenta Valley leads directly to its spring. TRENTA VALLEY The Trenta Valley , carved deeply between the mountains, opens into wild lateral ravines and numerous magnificent summits under which, in the olden days, Alpine meadows where sheep used to graze flourished. ALPINUM JULIANA The Alpine Botanical Garden Juliana is the first and only botanical garden in Slovenia , established in 1926 by a friend of Julius Kugy, Albert Bois de Chesne. Around 600 different botanical species thrive in the Garden, some of them endemic; the Botanical Garden is a real treasury of Alpine and karstic flora. THE BOKA WATERFALL The waters of this mighty waterfall, which are accumulated in the Kanin Range and interwoven with karstic caves and chasms, fall freely during the first 106 metres , and then drop another 30 metres . Boka is the most powerful Slovenian and one of the most magnificent European waterfalls. KLUŽE FORT This exceptional fort, named Kluže, has guarded the passage between the sea and the Alps since ancient times. This historic site has been marked by the Venetians, the Habsburgs, Austrian and French soldiers, Napoleon, the Isonzo Front, and World War II. Mt. MANGRT Above the picturesque Koritnica Valley and Log pod Mangrtom stands the mighty Mt. Mangrt ( 2679 m a.s.l.). The highest road in Slovenia leads to the Mangrt Saddle ( 2072 m a.s.l.), with a beautiful vista of the surrounding summits of the Julian Alps . NARNIA For the scenes of the mighty skirmish at the end of Disney's Chronicles of Narnia, Prince Caspian was filmed by the blue-green Soča River . For the filming of the magnificent scene with the riverine deity and the final encounter with the Telmarine army where good prevails over evil, a mighty log bridge across the Soča river was constructed. SUŠEC GORGES Discovering intact gorges and pure channels and sliding down cascades takes you into a world of mystery. The tranquillity which accompanies the entry into this concealed world is a guarantee of unique memories and relaxation. People looking for sporting pleasures may experience the gorges under the watchful eye of an experienced guide. KANIN Kanin is the only Slovenian ski centre at an altitude exceeding 2000 m a.s.l. The sunny aspect, natural dry snow, and magnificent views of the Alps and the Gulf of Trieste make the Kanin ski slopes unique. In summer, Kanin is a hiking paradise.
