Budget Travel Ideas
Edit ThisBratislava is both the largest city in Slovakia and it's capital. Bratislava is very much the center of everything that goes on in Slovakia so it is home to cultural and international highlights. This city brings the best of both new and old, from their buildings to their food. Bratislava is also right amongst highly used roads that go across Europe, so buses, trains, and trolleys are readily available for inter-city or international travel.
Getting There

What to Do
The Slovak National Theater was opened in 1920 and features anything from plays to opera to ballets. Just to walk by these buildings is sensational enough, but if you want to get tickets to one of their shows between September and June, visitwww.snd.sk. There are numerous palaces and mansions in Bratislava to visit including the Keglevich Palace, Apponiy Palace, and Segner's Mansion. Devin Castle is a site with much history and is a beautiful walk. The area is known to have been used by the Romans, Celts, and traces of Slavs dating back to the 8th century. The House at the Good Shepherd is an interesting attraction. It is a house that was built in 1760 and is 4 stories high, but is only the width of 1 room and stairs, meaning an areal view would show a skinny, long rectangle. The Old Town House is an original Romanesque building dating back to the 1200s.
