Murmansk Russia was but a small almost forgotten village in the extreme northwest part of Russia , on the Kola Bay before World War I. After the war it became the important city and seaport it is today. Murmansk links Russia to the western world due to it's location. Many of the sites that you will want to see when you are there are linked to the war and the bridge that connects Russia to the west. Some of these sites are Murmansk Alyosha, a World War II monument, and the anchor (a monument to the sailors who died in the time of peace).
