Chita is a city in Siberia which is about 500 miles east of Lake Baikal, near the Russian Mongolian border. The place to see in Chita is the Central Square where you can find several shops, and restaurants. While in Central Square be sure to go to the square’s center and visit Lenin’s Monument. Another one of Chita’s attractions is the Chita Army Museum where you can learn about the history of Chita, also known as the City of Exiles. While in Chita you will want to make sure you stop by the Drama Theatre, Arts Museum, and The Museum of Local Lore. The Trans-Siberian Railway passes through the city which makes getting to and from Chita quite convenient. There are three major hotels in Chita, the Panama City Hotel, and Zabaikalie Hotel, and the Dauria Hotel. Be sure to bring your camera as the city offers an unusual mix of architecture which, along with the stark white background of snow and ice, makes for beautiful pictures.
