At Sintra’s Historical Center can be found a number of very nice small shops at which to buy a variety of items: Port Wine, Traditional Handicrafts, Portuguese Music (Fado, Folk, Contemporary, Ethnographic), Traditional Portuguese Instruments (Portuguese Guitars, Adufes), Antiques, Books, Pottery, Embroideries, and Sintra's Cakes (Queijada de Sintra).

Loja do Arco, in the heart of the historic center of Sintra, has dedicated itself since its founding in 1998 to disseminating Portuguese culture in the areas of literature, music, and traditional crafts.

Loja do Arco’s particular distinction is its collection of the music of Portugal. With about 2000 available titles, it offers fado, Portuguese folk, ethnic, classical, Renaissance, and contemporary music.
