Porto
Edit ThisVisiting Porto from Póvoa de Varzim is as easy as buying a metro ticket and enjoying the ride to the historic centre of Porto, a world heritage site. Travel time using the express metro is about 49 minutes, but it takes about one hour on a normal one. By motorway, you should simply use the A28 motorway, it ends in Porto and it takes less than 30 minutes to reach the city located less than 28 km away.
It may take some more time, if using the light metro system, but it a comfortable, cheap and useful way of travel and used by many more..

Vila do Conde by bicycle
Edit ThisThe neighbouring town of Vila do conde is part of the same urban area as Póvoa de Varzim. Both towns are linked by an excellent waterfront pavement, with bicycle path. Consider renting a bicycle, in the summer months it is pretty easy to do so, and enjoy the ride to the historic town centre of Vila do Conde, about 3 km from the Póvoa de Varzim city centre (5 km from some hotels). Vila do Conde town centre is a peaceful and placid riverside district dating back to the discovery age or earlier.
If bicycle is not your thing, then more..
