When to Go in Funchal
Edit ThisThe Best Time to Go to Funchal
If you are planning a visit to Funchal, when to go is what you need to carefully consider. Funchal is the largest city and capital of Madeira. The best time to go to Funchal is during summer, when there are a lot of festivals that are happening.
Spring and Summer Are the Best Times
The climate in Funchal is relatively warm, just like the Mediterranean. However, the best time to go here is during spring and summer, which happens from April to August. During this time, the temperature is relatively warm and ranges from 20.9 Celsius to 25.6 Celsius, which makes these months a perfect time to go to the beach without any problems with rain. Further, there are a lot of festivals that are held during these times, such as the Flower Festival and the Jazz Festival which happens every year during the months of April and August, respectively.
Avoid Funchal during the Wet Season
So as not to spoil your beach adventure in Funchal, you should not go here during the months of November to February, as the city gets a lot of precipitation during that time. During these months, the precipitation ranges from 9 to 11 inches. Moreover, 15 days on each of these months experience torrential downpours. If you happen to visit Funchal during these times, then you will be spending most of your time inside your hotel room.
