Situated in a central position between the North and South of Portugal, Castelo Branco marks a border of two cultural regions since remote distinct times: the world of the granite and the world of the shale. Place of occupation human being who retraces to the Age of Bronze was, however, from the conturbados times of peninsular medieval history, with the continued construction of borders, that Castelo Branco assumes excellent regional role from the charter one of Peter Alvito (century XIII), master of the Templários, the small farm develops two important functions: the defense and the ruralismo, well patented realities in a drawing of the beginnings of century XVI.

Today of these times, the streets are conserved that trepam for the hill side in direction to the castle, with decorated carried its, its names remembering old professions (Street of the Peleteiros, the Potters, the Blacksmiths), the small agricultural spaces (still today used), the olival of the south hill side and still all the characteristics of the small world of the street with its smells and sounds.
