Capela d'Ossos
Capela d'Ossos is otherwise known as the Chapel of Bones. The chapel was built in the 19th century. This is a chapel with a difference as the walls are covered with human skulls and bones. There are approximately 1,245 skulls in total. The entrance is through the courtyard of the church. The church was founded in 1713 and has a baroque style. Items of interest in the church include an altar, statues and gold framed windows. There is also a monk's cemetery. The church is located on Largo do Carmo street. The church is open everyday and there is no admission fee. The chapel has a small admission fee.
Museu Muncipal de Faro
Museu Muncipal de Faro is otherwise known as the Municipal Museum. The building was a convent in the 16th century. There are different exhibits with Roman artifacts and statues on display. Housed in the building is the mosaic of Neptune dating back to the third century. This piece is in good condition. The museum is open Monday until Saturday. There is an admission fee but there is a discount for teenagers, and children enter free.
Museu Maritimo
At the Museu Maritimo visitors can learn more about the local fishing trade and its history. There are replicas of important historical boats on display. This includes Vasco de Gama's boat and Portuguese navy boats. The museum is open Monday until Friday. There is a small admission fee.
Faro Old Town
Faro old town is the perfect place to go for a walk and explore the cobbled streets. The old town is surrounded by a wall. Transport in the form of buses and trains provide easy access to the old town. Sections of the town date back to the Roman era. A noteworthy attraction is the Arco da Vila Town gate which provides an entrance to the town. There is a beautiful garden which has a statue of St. Thomas Aquinas. You can spot storks in the garden near the statue.

There is a cathedral situated on Largo da Se. The cathedral has a Gothic and Renaissance style. A feature of this attraction is the tiles which are from the 17th and 18th centuries. Capela do Rosario which has beautiful tiles as well as sculptures. The cathedral is open everyday and admission is free.
