Believe it or not but a safari tour can be taken into the interior back blocks from Albufeira. Not a wildlife tour although if you have enough wine tasting along the way you may see some pink elephants. It is a dusty ride in the back of jeeps but well worth it. It covers quite a bit of territory and scenic little villages are visited. A traditional Portugese lunch of chicken is supplied at a popular swimming place where you can also join in the fun. We start our visit in Cerro da Villa. It was in Vilamoura than the romans were the first to live in Vilamoura. Later we find other people like the Visigoth and Moorish colonies. These people had left important cultural features wich we can today testify in Cerro da Villa (as the ruins of noble hoses). Then we go to Albufeira. It was a fishermen town, today we can find fishermen but Albufeira is the tourism Kingdom of the Algarve. The next village is Paderne. We will visit its' castle.
