Eating Out in Albufeira

Edit This

Albufeira is a place with an abundance of choices when it comes to restaurants. Nearly every type of food is represented, making Albufeira restaurants some of the most varied in the Algarve. There is a wide range of local and international cuisine, ranging in prices from budget to luxury. Getting out and exploring what this town has to offer is the best way to stumble upon some of the best food in the region.

Grandma's Kitchen

For traditional English or North American dishes Grandma's Kitchen cannot be beat. It is located in the Old Town section of Albufiera and marked well with a pink neon sign so you really can't miss it. Among the best dishes are steak, grilled fish and pork. Although it may not sound exciting or exotic, the food is absolutely delicious. Dishes are also very reasonably priced with most coming in at under 20 euros. If you fancy some familiar cuisine then your best bet is Grandma's Kitchen.

Liza's Pizza and Pasta

For a taste of the Mediterranean, Liza's Pizza and Pasta is the best there is. Visitors have their choice of 2 locations in Albufeira. There is one located in the Old Town section, cleverly marked by a bright yellow canopy and the main restaurant is located on the strip. Liza's Pizza and Pasta mixes local and Italian flavors to make a unique mix of dishes. Everything is reasonably priced and you'll leave absolutely stuffed.

In addition to this, visitors have their pick of 1 main course and dessert. Included in the price is either a beer or half bottle of wine. O Valiero is located in the Old Town section near the Cavern.

Rick's Bar

Rick's Bar is located on the strip and serves some of the most delicious fillet steaks you'll ever taste. Families with children will appreciate the fact that they offer children's meals. Although known as a bar it looks more like a cafe inside. Rick's bar is located a the top of the hill on the strip. If you´re looking to relax and enjoy the local lifestyle during your holiday in Albufeira, there are plenty of opportunities to do just that in and around the Old Town. Here you will find lots of laid back cafes and restaurants, most of which serve good value daily set menus at lunch and/or dinner. The seafood here is spectacular--wonderfully fresh--and it is the best place to try a plate is at the aptly-named Fisherman´s Beach, a beach close to the town square. Lobster, sardines and shrimp are all readily available, while more adventurous types might want to try squid, octopus or a mixed platter of any number of types of seafood, some of which you might not even be able to identify!

Lively Dining

For those who like their meals to come with a side order of music and mayhem, the place to head for is Albufeira´s famous Strip. Here, an entire street is lined with modern bars and restaurants, offering everything from pizzas and pastas to traditional Indian food and Arab dishes.  Most of the bars offer food as well as drinks and, during the summer high season, tend to be very lively places to eat and drink. If you want to enjoy your meal before the night time crush, head here before 7 p.m., when it is a pleasant place for families as well as partiers.

Cheap Eats

There are plenty of places to eat out in Albufeira without blowing the holiday budget sky high. For the late night crowd, burger vans line the streets after dark, and there are plenty of places to grab an inexpensive pizza or kebab at any time of day. Plates of the day are good value in sit-down restaurants, and the market held in the town square is a great place to stock up on tasty goodies for a picnic. For something special that won´t break the bank, try the acclaimed Dom Marcos restaurant at Rua Alves Correia 100, which has won rave reviews for its excellent food and service, as well as for its very fair prices.
