7 Day Itinerary in Albufeira
Edit ThisThe beach resort town of Albufeira has several activities on offer for both young and old. The beach and ocean are stunning and could easily fill an itinerary but Albufeira has several other hidden treasures that are worth exploring.
Day 1
Take a Quad bike trek on bikes that are automatic and easy to handle for anyone. Visit some of the Algarve terrain that can be quite challenging by foot.
Day 2
Visit the Old Town. There is a charming old section to Albufeira that is quite different from the hustle and bustle of the new resort section. The area is full of narrow roads and small buildings that look like another century. Several nice shops and boutiques are in the old town, showing it's not completely shut off from civilization.
Day 3
Take a historical tour. See how the Roman empire influenced the history and architecture of the Algarve region. The tour takes you through Albufeira as well as some of the other coastal towns as well. End your tour in Taveira which is known for its Roman style buildings.
Day 4
See the San Vicente statue. San Vicente is a local area hero, a fisherman who traveled and learned about new cultures. He would return to the area and share his experiences with all who would listen through his poetry and lectures.
Day 5
Experience the Montechorro Strip, one of the main areas for bars, restaurants, shops and night clubs that begins at the hotel Montechorro and extends down to the sea.
Day 6
Have a day of relaxation at the Spa Villas d'Agua. For a day of bliss this is a must do. The spa is actually housed is a sultan-styled tent over looking the Atlantic Ocean. If the views alone don't have visitors hooked, the massages will make you want to stay.
Day 7
See the remains of the castle wall. Albufeira was once settled by the Romans which means it would have been surrounded by a wall. Only a tiny section of the wall remains but what is left is a sufficient reminder the area's history.
