Cultural/Folk/Regional Festival—International Highland Folk Festival

Usually held during August, this is among the most widely-celebrated folk festivals in Poland. The festival was held in 1969. The festival aims to invite highlander communities across Europe and Asia to a common forum. Celebrations include discussions about various customs and dance forms. The most sough-after event is the ‘Coachman of the Year’ contest. Most of the celebrations are hosted along the streets of Kosciuszki and Krupowki. Visitors get a chance to participate in folk dances and taste traditional dishes.

Rural Festival—Honey Festival

Celebrated in August, the Honey Festival is observed among the farming communities of Zakopane. The main hub of celebrations is the small town of Poronin,located about 7 km to the east of Zakopane. The celebrations include a widespread display of honey products and bee-farming methods in an open-air stadium in Zakopane.

National Festival—Celebration of Third of May

This festival is commonly referred to as the National Constitution Day. In Zakopane, various communities get together for small, flag-hosting ceremonies.

Youth Festival—First Day of Spring

Celebrated during the last week of March, this is among the more contemporary of festivals in Poland. It is mainly celebrated by the student communities. The theme of the festival is to get further acquainted with Poland’s history and celebrate its evolution in world history. The usual celebrations include rock concerts and impromptu costume parties.
