Gdynia (Gdingen) had in the year of 1920 only 1200 inhabitants, but has now a population of almost 250 000. The growth to a city came in the 1930-ies as a result of the Treaty of Versailles when a strip of German territory (the Polish corridor) was awarded to newly independent Poland. Beautiful modern city. Worth seeing!!! 20 km north from the city of Gdansk (Danzig). Visit www.gdynia.pl for more information.
