Bars and Cafes in Tromso

Edit This
Tromso, Norway’s hottest ski town, features no shortage of eclectic bars and cafes for you to frequent after a long day on the slopes or hiking in the mountains. Make sure to bring cash, as not all the small cafes take credit cards.  Most all these bars and cafés are located in downtown Tromso, and are popular with the locals. If you get lost trying to find one of these cafes, just ask someone on the street. Here are World 66’s top selections:

Bla Rock Music Bar

Do you enjoy rock n’ roll? Bla Rock is the place for you. Featuring a wide array of local and international beer on tap, you’re sure to love this loud venue, decorated with pictures of musicians and rock n’ roll artwork. Snacks consist of the American hamburger, salads, tortillas, fries, salads, and other light fares. On the weekends you can catch a concert by local Tromso musicians, and occasionally international players. Finally, menu offers many cheap meals for the broke skier!

Aquarius Hotel Bar

Everyone is welcome at Tromo’s newest modern bar, attached to the Clarion Hotel Bryggen. Here you can watch one of Tromso’s hottest chefs prepare a traditional Norway meal with veal, crepes and salads, or if you want just chips and snacks, Aquarius has those as well. This fully licensed bar also features a cute love seat in the shape of red-hot lips, perfect for you and your significant other.

Apenbar

Who says you can’t find delicious Spanish tapas in this freezing northern city? Not Apenbar! Here you can partake in tapas, “tiny dishes”, featuring meats, vegetables, eggs, sweet sauces, and cheeses. Tapas are numerous and range in price to serve the budget traveler and those wanting to try a more expensive, rich option. Don’t miss out on the desserts and local beer. The romantic setting is ideal for couples wanting to unwind after a long day on the slopes.

Grunder

Grunder is most known for its wide range of cocktail selection. Here you can find a drink made with your favorite alcohol, no matter how obscure. Grunder takes pride in using all it’s liquor in their famous (and large cocktails). Come here during the middle of the week if you want to partake in the restaurant’s quizzes and themed games. In the evenings, while enjoying a dinner of roasted eggplant and veal, you can listen to Norway’s hottest up-and-coming musicians as well as international artists.
