Festivals in North Cape
Edit ThisThe Norwegian cliff of North Cape, which is located in the city of Nordkopp, is considered the more northern part of Europe, and North Cape Festivals can be cultural.
Nordkopp Film Festival
Held every year in September, this small but well known film festival focuses on films that are based on Norwegian novels. The festival lasts a week and is a popular attraction for Nordkopp and North Cape. This festival draws attention to films that would receive little recognition from Norway and Finland. The films are considered witty and bright influences on European cinema. During the festival, the organizers of the event organize tours for the patrons. Guests can tour the island and look at the sun that never sets. Much like the White Nights of Belorussia, this city rarely sees a sunset before midnight during the summer months.
North Lights Festival
As the name implies, this festival pays homage to the attributes of northern Norway. The Aurelia Borealis is visible from North Cape and it’s neighboring city through the majority of the year. Being so close to the North Pole, this small cape has the advantage of seeing the sun flares. The festival takes place each year during January 22nd-28th. In addition to paying homage to the Aurelia Borealis, the city also hosts an arts and food celebration. This festival is a wonderful tribute to the natural wonder of the North Cape and the Artic.
