The Great Liquor Day
Edit This
March 25 is known as "the Great Liquor Day in Lofoten".
How this came to be is somewhat obscure, but the tradition apparently goes back to the end of the last century, when measures were taken to counteract excessive consumption of liquor during the fishing season.
By and by, the day came to represent the opposite of what it was meant to: On this day, it was acceptable, as it were, to be seen meandering unsteadily through the village.
