There are many Kirkenes must do's to choose from, making this place a very popular tourist destination.

1. King Crab Safari

Kirkenes must do's should begin with going on this adventurous safari, where you will be at the Norway/Russia border. The safari takes you out to Barents sea, where expert guides will dive and catch giant crabs. While still at sea, you will enjoy floating in the icy cold water using special suits that keep you dry. You will then head back to the resort, where your catch will be cooked while you watch a documentary on the life of these creatures.

2. Snowmobile Safari

This trip takes you along the borders of Norway and Russia and into a forest. You will have a chance of visiting a farm built  in the early 1800's. 3. Ore Mines (Bjornevat)

You should make a point of going to see these ancient mines, which are part of the area's history. It is just ten kilometers away, so you can hire a taxi or get a self-driven car. Here you will find monuments that were erected in honor of the mine workers. Another attraction is the tunnel which was used as a bomb shelter by the locals during the Second World War.

4. Riverboat Tour

This riverboat tour is another Kirkenes must do. You will learn a lot about how the Russians and Norwegians lived and traded across each other's borders. On the boat, you will be served the best seafood dishes. These are freshly caught and then prepared by the renowned chef on board. There is also a gift shop on the boat where you can buy souvenirs to take home. The tours take place daily, starting from 10 a.m. and going through to 9 p.m. at night.

5. Kristiansand Zoo and Amusement Park

If you love nature and fun, then this is the place to visit. There is a zoo with all kinds of animals from Africa and all over the world. Tigers from Asia can also be found here. A kid's farm allows you to come into close contact with all many types of animals. There are also many thrilling rides and games for you to enjoy.
