Shopping in Bergen
Edit ThisThe rain can sometimes be so bad that little is to be found here but on anything like a reasonable day this is a great place to be. It is generally thought of as a fish market but there are also stalls with knitted goods, flowers, fruit, vegetables and other things.
However if you are mainly there to look, the fish stalls
which will probably grab your attention: vacuum packed salmon to take
home and jars of smaller delicacies, all sorts for self-catering and a
fine selection of stuff for you to put in sandwiches - or ready-made
sandwiches if you prefer. Unless you are wildly keen to buy them ready
made, you should also look in the adjacent baker's shop.
The knitted goods are interesting although some of the items on
offer tend to be a little bit tacky. The main thing here is the wide
selection of oceanic treats on offer and the general fun of the
everyday huff and bustle which is the Bergen Fishmarket.
