While visiting Zandvoort, things to do will include things that you can do in most every town in the Netherlands, but will also include some things that can only be done in Zandvoort. Knowing what you can do in the town of Zandvoort can help you plan out your vacation.

Car Races

If you love watching NASCAR back home, you must make at least one trip out to the car races in Zandvoort. The racetrack can be found on Burgemeester van Alphenstraat in the roundabout on the left, but if you cannot find it, any local will be able to point you in the proper direction. Watching the races is a unique experience that you can fully appreciate while the sounds of the engines are rumbling deep into your ears.

Zandvoorts Museum

If you are interested in history, the museum should be one of the first stops on your list. Inside the museum, you will be able to discover the history behind the village of Zandvoort, which was once known as a fisherman’s town. You can see firsthand what the houses looked like, and you can also see the original fishing equipment that they used. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 1 pm to 5 pm.

Yanks Indian Club

If you are looking for a great place to grab a drink or relax while smoking, Yanks is the place to go. One of the best things about Yanks is that even if you don’t drink or smoke, you can still come in for a visit and enjoy yourself. The club also features a video corner where you can watch a movie while visiting with friends. The movies are subject to change, so you can call ahead or look at their website to see what is currently playing.

Beach

Swimming at the beach is the most popular recreational activity in town, but you want to be careful where you go swimming. There are miles of beaches located along the coast, but between poles 68 to 71 on the South end of the coast, there is a designated nude beach. Aside from swimming, you can also take part in kite surfing or other water activities. One thing that you have to do is have a bite of fresh fish that is served off the trucks that cruise the beach.

Kerkstreet

This main street (and side streets) provide the best shopping around town. To get here, you can either drive into town or you can walk in from the beach. If walking up the beach, you will want to look for the casino and towerflats before turning into town. The streets in this area are filled with shops and restaurants.
