Zandvoort Travel Guide

Zandvoorts claim to fame is the fact that it is the closest beach from Amsterdam. In summer lot's of Amsterdammers will gather here to lay on the beach, while also lots of tourist turn up, especially Germans.

While nothing special really, it is a nice break from the city life and you can be on the beach from downtown Amsterdam in slightly under an hour, so that can be reason enough to go. If you do, try a 'broodje haring' at one of stalls on the beach.

Please note that on hot days both roads to Zandvoort are jammed, and that parking space is limited: visitors with cars face a serious risk of being turned back by the police. You are strongly advised to go by train or by bike.

Zandvoort has the Netherlands' largest nude beach, just to the south of the built-up area, from km-sign 69 to 72.
