Getting Around in Wageningen
Edit ThisRent a Bicycle in Wageningen
Among the various Wageningen Transportation options, renting a bicycle is undoubtedly the best choice. The town has an excellent bicycle infrastructure and is relatively small in size, which makes the use of automobile transport unnecessary. An alternative to bicycles is bus transport.
Bicycle
Riding a bicycle is not only the best transportation option for getting around Wageningen, but it is also the most popular form of transport in all of the Netherlands. Even people with renowned professions use bicycles to go to work. The town is small, so you will rarely need to travel more than 7 kilometers daily. You can rent bicycles at various local shops and hotels. Some of the hotels even have a free bicycle included in the room prices. Many local students ride cheaper or secondhand bicycles, so always lock your bike to deter theft.
Alternative to Biking
Bus transport is also available in Wageningen, but it is not very useful. Buses run every 20 minutes, which is more than enough time to easily reach any point within the city by bicycle. Riding a bus means buying a ticket. Tickets are available for purchase from the driver, but it can be expensive. If you get one of the so-called "strippenkaarten," which is a combined ticket for multiple rides, you can travel for as low as $0.50 per ride. Riding a bicycle is free of charge and is much more reliable.
