Sights in Utrecht

Catharijnecovent Museum gives a detailed history of Christianity. The museum is housed in a magnificent medieval monastery. The monastery was build in the 16th century. Over the years it has been used for a teaching hospital, student accommodation and a variety of museums. The current museum was founded in 1979. The fixed displays consist of historic and art historic artifacts dating back to early medieval times. The displays also offer a glimpse into Dutch culture and its development over time. Among the exhibits are manuscripts, jewelry, paintings, altar pieces and gold. Some of the the artists that have their work displayed are Jan van Scorel and Marc Mulders. On the premises is a museum shop selling catalogs and souvenirs. There is a admission fee and children under 17 enter free. Opening days are Tuesdays until Sunday. The museum is easily accessible as it is only a 15 minute walk from the station and you can also reach the museum by bus. People traveling by car can use the museum's parking bays which also offer spaces for coaches. The museum is accessible for disabled people and guide dogs are allowed. The on-site cafe sells refreshments. The museum has a library and conference room.
Utrecht University Museum
The University Museum offers a variety of educational information. The displays are centered around science and scientific discovery. Visitors can get involved with practical science experiments in the Knowledge Lab and Youth Knowledge Lab. The garden area has different plant and tree species. Opening times are Monday until Friday 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. There is an entrance fee with discounts for children and students.
Dom Church
Dom Church has a Gothic design and the construction of the church started in 1284. It consists of a church, bell tower and square. The church was damaged by a hurricane in 1674. Near the Dom Church is a garden where visitors can relax.
