Taxis
[edit this] Taxis are rather expensive in the Netherlands; Rotterdam is no exception.
Unlike in most other Dutch cities, where you're not supposed to hail cabs, but find yourself a taxi stand instead and call from there, in Rotterdam you can also hail one when the sign on the roof is lit.
Most cafes and restaurants will also be happy to call you a taxi when you're leaving, just ask.
Rotterdamse Taxi Centrale RTC is a former monopolist. Taxi Rotterdam is a more recent competitor and seems to be slightly cheaper.
RTC offers an Airport-Taxi Direct online calculator showing the tarification to and from a lot of destinations in the region (check the url below, page is in Dutch, but you'll find out easily if you know that Woonplaats = Destination).
