Valkhof

Toward the north of Nijmegen is an enchanting park which is located on a low hill - the Valkhof Hill. There are numerous historical buildings and other heritage structures that can be found in the area along with Saint Nicholas Chapel and Saint Marteen’s Royal Chapel, both built around 11th century A.D. Down the Valkhof Hill is the Carolingian Chapel, constructed in eighth century A.D. On the west of Valkhof Hill is a town hall belonging to the 15th century--a nice place to get children acquainted with the historical legacy and cultural roots of the region.

For all soccer loving families, the de Goffet stadium is an exciting place to catch top clubs in Europe battle it out in close matches. The stadium has the capacity to hold approximately 12,000 spectators and is built on the famous Dutch EreDivisie parks model. VELORAMA National Bicycle Museum

An attractive building with a wide collection of bicycles is a great place to visit especially for young cycle lovers. The museum displays around 250 cycles including the oldest models to the modern ones. Walking through the museum, families can get to know about the cycle design and the evolution and development of cycle manufacturing.

Museumpark Orientalis

This museum reveals the origin and traditions of 3 religions- namely Christianity, Judaism and Islam. The history of the holy books of these religions namely the Bible, Tenach and Koran, are illustrated in the main building of the museum. There is also a beautiful park that surrounds the museum, making it an ideal place for children to play.

Grote Markt

Grote Markt is a triangular area located in the center of the city. This is the venue where street markets are held on Saturdays and Mondays. There is also an old weigh house constructed in the year 1622. At the market square is the statue of a girl named Mariken, who is a famous character of a medieval novel.
