Getting Around

Once you have reached the town the best way to get around town is on foot or on bike. Walking to where you need to go is easy because everything is located in the center of the city. Sights

If you are interested in looking at the architecture of various old buildings Hilversum has a lot of different things to offer. One place that is something that shouldn’t be missed is the Town Hall Hilversum, which was built in 1928. Town Hall Hilversum is known for its unique shape, but also its yellow bricks that were specially designed for the building. A guided tour is given every Sunday at 2 p.m. for about $9.00. Other sights around town include Gooiland, Kiosk, and the former AVRO Studios.

Recreation

Hiking and biking are the most popular recreational activities the town has to offer. Many people have a hard time seeing where the city ends and the forests begin because of how everything flows into each other. Anna’s Hoeve is a great place to go to enjoy a day of hiking and bike riding, but be prepared for the hilly areas. However, if you want to stick closer to town you can go on over to Corversbos.

Eating Out

There are plenty of restaurants available to choose from in Hilversum. If you are looking for a cheap place to eat after the bar closes you should check out Apolonia, which on Fridays and Saturdays stays open until at least 3 a.m. The shawarma with pita bread and the doner kebabs are highly recommended. Da Familia or Lust are two restaurants well known for their international cuisine.

Nightlife

On Fridays and Saturdays most bars and clubs in the city of Hilversum are open until 3 a.m. During the week the same bars are open until 1 a.m. with a few exceptions. De Baron is a great bar to check out if you enjoy playing pool and darts while enjoying a beer. Club Gooiland is only open on Friday and Saturday nights and is a great place to go.
