There are a few Hilversum Must Do's which every tourist to Hilversum should have on his or her list. Not doing them would mean missing out on the essence of Hilversum.

1. Visit Dudek’s Buildings

Hilversum and Dudek are pretty much linked to each other.  Dudek designed a lot of buildings in Hilversum and the reason why Hilversum is such a beautiful city architecturally is because of the genius of Dudek.  At the very minimum a visit to the town hall is warranted and perhaps a couple of other buildings. A little study of the early 20th century new-building style would be worth its while. Often beauty studied can be appreciated more.

2. Enjoy Beel en Geluid

Hilversum is known more for Beel en Geluid than anything else. A visit to Beel en Geluid is definitely warranted, and if you want to study the media or are curious about Dutch culture there is something here for you as well.  Just a visit to the building itself is more than worth it, though, because you will most certainly agree that there is no building which is quite like it anywhere else.

3. Check out the Churches

You do not need to be religious to visit the very beautiful churches in Hilversum.  The Great Church, from a sheer historical and architectural point of view, is worth a visit. The Church of Our Sweet Lady is worth the visit just for looking at the incredible stained glass.

4. Hike

If you are in Hilversum, you must keep at least one day free from a schedule. Anna’s Hoeve is definitely worth going to and a visit to Coversbos would be a very relaxing experience, too. It is not too dense of a forest, so you don’t get too intimidated. There are a lot of birds like owls and woodpeckers. There are a lot of bees, too, so you do need to be a little careful. Do go to a couple of parks as well. The Costerus Garden has a variety of plants that you just have to see even if you are not botanically inclined.

5. Shop

Hilversum may be the Netherland’s best-kept shopping secret. It really is not a secret; it is a favorite haunt of a lot of the celebrities. It is in the middle of the country so you get access to products from all over the country. It has cutting edge fashion and design and great items for every budget.
