While vacationing in Hilversum Practical Information is very useful because it allows you to plan your entire vacation. Even though Hilversum is a relatively safe city, there are still a few things that you want to watch out for. During the day there isn’t much to worry about, but at night is when you want to take a few precautions, especially if you are actively taking part in the nightlife of Hilversum.
Vandalism
The biggest problem in Hilversum is going to be vandalism, which is usually caused by some of the local youths. If you are out on the streets around dusk, you might notice a group of local youths hanging around together. The main spot for these groups to converge is the town center, but you can also find them at the railway stations, especially Sportpark. While seeing a group of local youths hanging around doesn’t always mean trouble, it is wise to avoid them. Much of the time, the youths in these groups are drunk or under the influence of some drug, or often they are simply bored, so they go out and destroy things such as bus stops or trashcans.
Fights
Another problem is after the bars and nightclubs close on the weekends, which is usually between 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. The crowds can break out into fights involved patrons who are upset that the restaurants and bars have closed. Another problem is the large crowds of drunks that gather on the street, many times confrontations with police happen. Never get involved, no matter how tempting it might seem.
