Getting Around in Haarlem
Edit This
Of all the places to visit in the Netherlands, one of the most relaxing can be the town of Haarlem. Transportation in this town is simple, that is why so many people like to visit this small town. Its streets and venues are compacted with shops, bars and museums. There are primarily two modes of getting around here in Haarlem; you can either walk or ride a bike.
Getting Around Walking or Biking Through the Town
The town is built really compacted so you will most likely be able to walk to wherever it is you desire to go. For instance, it is only a 15 minute walk from the train station to the center of the town. The same can be said for getting to famous attractions like The Windmill de Adriaan or the Teylers Museum. Another way is biking to the places you want to see. You will soon realize that this is a friendly town for bike riders. You can rent a bike from Pieter’s fietsenstalling station, a bike rental shop right at the train station.
Outside the Town
In going to places immediately outside the town square, it is best to rent a bike. Bicycle riding is a big thing in Haarlem. They are very useful for day trips. It is also possible to rent a vehicle, but that can be expensive since gasoline is very costly in Haarlem. Also, Haarlem has a few bus lines passing through it named the Connexxion. They go to local places just outside of the city.
