Haarlem Culinair Festival
This event that occurs during the first weekend of August is filled with never ending excitement. Starting from Thursday evening and running until Sunday night, this festival is all about food. All the restaurants set out tents in front of their establishments for people to enjoy. It is exciting because you get to eat small samples for free. Eat a sample from one place, then go on to the next!
Haarlem Salsa Festival
On the later end of October, this feisty festival resonates through the whole city. Latin dancers from all over the world show their stuff during this fabulous weekend, fueled by 3 nights of dancing and entertaining shows. Vendors set up open-air stalls to sell all styles of Latin cuisine that will make your mouth water. Workshops are also available to learn passionately how to dance Latino style. It is a great time to meet people and have fun.
Blomencorso van de Bollenstrek
This extravagant parade starts 25 miles away in Noordwijk, then slowly travels all the way to Haarlem. This float parade is unique because every year a different theme is represented by the floats. All of the floats are composed totally of flowers. The air is filled with the sweet fragrance of the blooming flowers. This festival draws thousands of spectators each year. The displays are wonderful and are lighted up at nighttime. You will also see marching bands and various other special new surprises every year.

During the month of June, the Haarlem Biannual Comic Festival hits the streets of this entertaining city. Comic strip and graphic novelists arrive from all parts of the world to show off their art. The event has grown to quite a large gathering over the years. All along the streets and venues, artists set up shop to sell their works. Several workshops are set up to teach people aspects of comic art. This is a great event for kids and adults alike.
