Getting There in Breda
Edit This
If you are planning a trip to Breda, getting there is possible by many various forms of transportation. Here is a detailed look at the different options.
By Train
Breda is accessible by train and has two railway stations, Breda and Breda-Prinsenbeek. The latter is the smaller one, serving only a couple of lines. However, both stations serve only domestic routes, so if you’re coming from other countries, you’ll first have to arrive at some of the bigger cities (like Amsterdam), and then take a train to Breda. The trains are safe and comfortable and are a popular transportation choice for tourists. The railway network is well-developed, and you can reach Breda literally from any point of the Netherlands.
By Bus
Numerous bus lines, coming from all over the Netherlands, stop at the Breda Central Bus Station. It is located right next to the Breda Railway Station. Just like by train, Breda is reachable from any point of the Netherlands by bus. The price of bus tickets and train tickets is very similar as well. However, the major plus of traveling by bus is that to Breda, there are direct international buses coming from Belgium, Germany and France, and this will save you from the discomfort of changing buses in a bigger city.
By Car
If you decide to travel with your own car, there are several things that you should take care of. Make sure that you carry all the documents of the car. This includes insurance and registration papers. Don’t forget that your insurance needs to have a Green Card to be valid abroad. If you’re not a citizen of the European Union, you'll have to also make sure that your driving license is internationally valid. There are no border check posts, but the Dutch traffic police sometimes does routine checks around the borders.
By Plane
Unfortunately, Breda doesn’t have an airport. The cities with airports and decent connections to Breda are Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Eindhoven. The latter two are closer to Breda, but serve only European destinations, so if you need an intercontinental flight, you’ll have to arrive at Amsterdam first, and then take a bus or train to Breda.
