Queensday (Queens Birthday)
Edit ThisWhen you're in Amsterdam/Holland on the last day of April, this is the place to be! Probably your only chance to see the Dutch go wild...
It is one big orange party. Not on the actual birthday of the Queen, but on her mothers birthday: April 30th. Not Only Amsterdam turns into one big party area, but actually the whole country. However it's best to celebrate Queensday in Amsterdam! The city turns crazy and orange (it because of "the House of Orange", the Dutch Royal Family), and many people from around the world have discovered this Dutch Carnaval.
Around the Rembrandt square and Leidsesquare, Museumsquare and Spui, there are big parties with famous (Dutch and international) artists and loud music. In "The Jordaan" area the atmosphere is a bit cozier, with lots of things to do on the streets and the Vondelpark is only for children to perform tricks and sell second hand stuff.
