Demographics
Amersfoort is the 2nd largest city in the Utrecht province, with a population of almost 150,000 people. Population density is high with over 2200 residents per square km. Nearly all of the people belong to the Dutch ethnic group, and as such speak the Dutch language. The Dutch language is a West Germanic Language and has similarities to German, English and even French. From a grammatical point of view, Dutch is closest to German. It has almost the same word order, verb morphology and syntax. However, don’t worry about language barriers as the people here are highly-educated, with over 90% speaking English and 70% speaking German as a secondary language.
Currency
Like in every well-developed Western European Country, the official currency in the Netherlands is the Euro. You can buy a Euro for about $1.20.
